Total eclipse of the heart se grabó junto a los miembros de la E Street Band, Max Weinberg en la batería, Roy Bittan a los teclados y el guitarrista Rick Derringer. Estuvo cuatro semanas en el nº 1 de Billboard e impulsó las ventas del álbum Faster than the speed of night, en el que se incluía.
